The Table: Stories and Food Centre
A Community Food Hall and Library
by Olivia Janiszewski
The act of eating and storytelling are one and the same. The former site of the
NCC comprises both a dining space and library where sharing food, recipes, books
and telling stories are encouraged through a winding table structure that morphs
throughout the site. The table creates spaces where people can gather, eat,
study, read, give cooking classes and teach. The curves allow for this
flexibility and accessibility. The ultimate goal is to generate an open space
where many foods and storytelling rituals can coexist.
