Play
Outdoor Performance Centre
by Katia Broz
Play is a co-design project that allows Little-Burgundy dancers and musicians’
voices to be heard. Indeed, spaces to play and teach music, have dance classes,
and perform are more in demand than ever, to revive the rich local artistic
legacy.
To include artists in the design process, tools such as a design game and on-site DIY structures help them quickly assemble an outdoor cultural centre. Thus, they can use the site today, as a testing ground for a more permanent program to come.
To support the DIY parts, semi-permanent and permanent structures are jointly installed by experts for water, electricity, and other indoor needs. These 3 types of spaces with varying longevity has a low cost is convenient to install today and will easily evolve in the next 5 to 10 years.
